Montana’s property tax system is broken

Property tax reform

Montana’s property tax system is broken. With the reduced reliance on industry to fund our state, Montana has begun to rely heavily on property taxes to fill our state coffers. But even as taxes rise, municipalities see very little of that increase.

We need meaningful property tax reform now at the state level. Every Montanan needs this. The current system is not sustainable. As a city, we can continue to advocate for real property tax reform and push back on corporate tax cuts as residents end up shouldering the burden.
