Climate change is the issue of our time

Pivotal climate work

As the chair of the climate, conservation and parks committee chair on city council I get to work closely with the city’s climate team. Their work is inspiring. Currently, we continue to work toward a green power program with Northwestern Energy and the cities of Bozeman and Helena. This work has been ongoing for several years and, even with setbacks, we continue to move forward with this program.

We are also working hard on the evolving infrastructure for EV charging stations and plans to roll out a comprehensive plan in the coming year. It is also hard at work at tracking our emissions, collecting data on how we can improve those emissions and understanding what improvement looks like in this arena. We continue to work toward our zero waste program goals, increasing electrification and reducing reliance on natural gas, and continuing to protect open spaces. This work is pivotal and Missoula is leading Montana forward with its deep commitment to mitigation and resilience.
